Emily is not he protagonist of Othello but she played a major role to the Play to end it's tragedy. She was the royal attendant of Desdemona. She passes all her time with Desdemona as a result she knows every corners of Desdemona's heart. She appears us as loyal as to Desdemona and also to her Husband like most of Elizabethan Women .
It's true that she has been used by her husband in his intention to destroy the life of Othello. Though Emilia is responsible for the death of Desdemona indirectly for proving the handkerchief to her husband. But she did it for thinking that her husband would be happy to see it. But at a same time her sense stricken her that Desdemona will search for it.
Emilia was only a puppet at the hand of her husband. She says her feeling to Desdemona about how a woman being use as food by their hungry husband and what was the consequence after that.
When she heard the death of Desdemona she rushes their immediately and being shocked to see the death body of Desdemona. She then comes to know that its because of the handkerchief that led the death of a innocent girl. She didn't want to Desdemona bear the name whore. She then disclosed the matter behind the Handkerchief. She knew that if she disclosed the truth she might be murdered. But she told that he handkerchief was stolen her and gave it to Iago . Iago wanted to stop her but when he could not stop and then he stabbed her to death.
Thus her character is important for both to lead the tragedy of Desdemona and to disclosed the truth behind it. She can be seen as good loyal character to everyone. Who says truth dont dare to death.
