In what way does Look Back in Anger reflect the mood and temper of post-war England?

The play Look Back In Anger has generally been regarded as an expression of frustration ,disillusionment and anger of post war youth .The play gives us a glimpse into the mood and temper of England after World War II.

Jimmy porter has been regarded as the spokesman of that post war generation .He represents all the generation that belongs to the post word period . The play is a protest against the contemporary society .

After the end of WW2 ,the British Labor party came to the power they introduced some social and economical reform to build up a welfare sate to their country .Yet some idealist young were not satisfied with this society system .

Because the young people found themselves in the same miserable position  as they were previously .

This situations also faced by the hero of the play Jimmy porter .He tried many occupations but failled to settle down any of them .He tried to journalism ,advertisement ,even odd job vacuum clearing ,then sweet selling .

Jemmy seems to be rebel against the society which had betrayed with the young people and against an older generation which left them down .

jimmy feels that society has not treated him according  to his desire . He regards himself and clearly regarded by the author as the spokesman for the younger post war generation which looked round at the world and found nothing right with it .

Jimmy as true representative of post war generation youth is also a revel against against the class -distinctions that made by the society ,and he found himself a victim of it  .

Alison's parents had opposed Alison's marriage with him as he was not perfect for her because alison belongs to middle class and jimmy belongs to working class people .Jimmy couldn't forget the past though he now married with Alison and it has been four years ,but he has a bitter attitude towards alison's family .

We fins him mocking about Alison's father who served in Brisitsh Raj ,and he also mocked his mother calling her a bitch .

Helena Representative of the arrogant middle class .Who has also been showed as forceful woman  .

When the play opens we find Jimmy speaking in a discontents ,restless manner .Cliff though has no education but he seems to be more mannered then Jimmy .

There are reason of his temperate as a post young educated man he has not given anything from the society .

He is discontented with the Sunday newspaper .He is discontented with his wife alison and dissatisfied with cliff .

He complains about his wife that she hardly listen to him ,but goes to sleep when he begins to speak .

His friend cliff ignorant to understand the newspaper .

The ringing of church bell annoys him because he opposed to formal religion .He feels very irritated with Alison when he learns that she is goinunder the influence of Helena . 

He then goes on to make fun of Bishop and the woman who got kicked in religiously assembly .

Throughout  the whole play we find Jimmy raging against ,persons ,institutions ,and things of society .

Jimmy better experience of life as a past war youth .In spite of the university degree that he holds ,has not been able to settle down in life .

To sum up ,we can say jimmy as a mouthpiece of every young people of post war period .

the generation of post war many reason to angry because of social distinction economic position contemporary tradition and the failure of life make them to be angry .
